LOAD216 Day 19

Friday's prompts are Landmark, another repeating prompt. 

LO 1- I was looking through some old pictures, looking for a house picture for another LO. I came across many pictures that brought many memories and many tears.  I went with this one.

My first phone # with a picture of my grandpa, mom and I in our kitchen in 1983! I was inspired by Suse Fish for the design and used Crate Paper Hello Love collection.

The journaling is tucked behind the photo cluster. That seems to be my MO I guess.

47-2016

I was thinking that today would be the day that I did only 1 LO. I had a very busy Friday but I was pulled to my scraproom when my oldest daughter told me that she had a selfie that I would not like. She is under the impression I like only happy smiley faces. I do prefer happy Megan instead of  somber sad looking Megan. She forwarded it to me and guess what, I loved it.

Thursday's prompt is language. I am kind of running out of steam for the repeating prompts.

LO 1 is using mainly all Crate Paper's new line Hello Love and submitted to the Paper Issues product spotlight challenge. I used a Becky Fleck sketch.

I used 2 pics from 2007 of my niece waiting for my daughter to kick.

 LO 2 came out a bit different than I planned. I focused on a phrase that I use and my then 4 yr's reaction to it. The journaling is tucked into the bottom 1/2 circle.

LOAD216 Day 17

Wednesday's prompts are culture and today it is museum.

Would you know it, I used my museum picture yesterday. So today I went rouge.  For  LO 1 I used this sketch  from Scrap Much? It is a Sketch-y Friday Challenge with B-team.

Here is my take. I kept very close to the sketch, I wanted to be quick today (ha ha that seems to be impossible with me). I struggled as to where to put the journaling. I could have tucked it again (I think I do that a lot) but I had everything sewed or stuck on real good when I got to the journaling point. I typed  a sentence or two on strips and shopped them around. Everywhere I laid them it took away from the diagonal line so I stuck them on the diagonal strips. Win win.

For LO 2, again off prompt, I found this picture of my brother's family at the top of my Dropbox folder. It has been there since 2012.

43-2016

I knew the title as soon as I printed the picture and laid eyes on my nephew. I had a design in my head that I was going for but that "Happy" was too yummy not to use. But it is big, very gold, very glittery and that changed everything. Now it could not be a small title, it needed other big words to look right.  I am happy with the title. 

To spread the glitterly gold around the LO I sewed sequins in a strip for about 25 minutes, those things are crazy jumpy - ugh. But it was perfect for glittery effect! The Foam Glittery heart at the bottom completes the triangle and that triangle frames the picture.

I am not sure I am done with it yet, I am leaving it like you see it for now but I am leaving it on my scrap-desk to make sure.

LOAD216 Day 16

Tuesday's prompts are transportation and today it is car.  

I used a sketch from Stuck?! For my 1st LO.  This sketch is the newest February challenge sketch over at the Stuck?! blog.

I stuck pretty close to the sketch but I did flip it as my photo worked better on the right side, the car was pointing right as well as my daughter's outstretched arm.

I used a We R Jen Hadfield "quoted" page kit that I got off one of the daily deals pages awhile back. The grey paper looked similar to tire treads and was a great neutral choice for the largest piece. The red strip is from My Minds Eye My Story line. The scallops are a border strip from the JH sticker sheet. I cut the 4.5" circles from Stampin' up! 6x6 winter wonderland designer vellum stack, it has gold spots on it but I did not want any gold elements so I flipped it over and the gold spots look grayish silver (bonus.)

I had two pictures I wanted to use so I created a flip and added the journaling to the flap.

The title is October Afternoon letter stickers, The green tag was a plain white tag that I covered in green washi tape. The stitched circle is stitched with rainbow thread. The splatters is HS Tinsel Color Shine.

LO 2 for today is Blah winter.

41-2016

I spent a bit of time on a background texture that can't be seen in these picture or in the close-up shots I took. How sad, it is a shimmery watercolor in silver and is very pretty in person, but you'll have to take my word for it.

The picture was taken 104 weeks ago, according to my Instagram feed.  Turns out that it was February 17th 2014, it took me way too long to figure that out.

I would have liked more variety in the snowflakes but I have only one snowflake punch (Martha Stewart). I was not about to cut any on my Silhouette today. I had spent a wee bit to much time in my scrapbook today as it was.

LOAD216 Day 15

Monday prompts are color, today's flag is from Australia: Red white and blue.

 LO 1 I went with a sketch from Stuck?! and will submit it to their sketch challenge. 

38-2016

I used the red white and blue color scheme to keep with the prompt.  I turned my pics B&W so they were easy to pair with the paper colors. I did turn the sketch 90 degrees but stuck pretty close to it. I did mat it on a dark blue paper, the dark blue strip in the center of the LO I thought needed to be repeated more to off set the red.  I really like this sketch and can see myself using it again.

I used more of the vellum stars I cut with the HS holiday die. The wooden button are from Shimelle's True Stories line, the blue check mark was an alter button. I just popped off the green tea cup sticker and stuck on a Simple Stories chipboard sticker form their planner line.

 LO 2 is a take on another Stuck?! sketch. It is from the January challenge. I missed this one but still liked the sketch.

I again turned the sketch 90 degrees. I added the star to go back to the prompt of the Australian flag, they  also fit the topic perfectly.

 The background paper is from Shimelle's new line Star shine. for me this LO is a bit plain but it does meet the prompt and have all the details to tell the story I was trying to convey.

The gold thread mess reminded me of a cloud shape and I thought it fit the topic.

LOAD216 Day 14

Sunday's prompts are food.

35-2016

 LO 1  is inspired by a Suse Fish LO  and not on prompt. The picture is of my niece last Easter. The journaling is tucked in behind the picture cluster on a tag.

 I cut a page full of butterflies on my Silhouette out of copper text printed vellum and layered them up to create dimension, stitched in gold tread. I layered tissue paper, vellum and a doily behind the photo. I wet the edge of the white paper and roughed it up. I think this is my favorite LO so far:)

I really love the layered butterflies.

36-2016

LO 2 is a food for thought. It uses another background I created while taking Paige Evans Class and BPC, It was a bit bright and the  title was hard to read so I layered vellum over it and stitched it down with gold thread between the rows of chevrons to hold it in place. It got a bit out of alignment so I trimmed it down and backed it with a wood grain paper to warm it up.

 The journaling is tucked behind the pictures on a tag and basically says that even though we have to go to the children's hospital to visit my daughter's doctors She is always excited to visit Big Bird, Super Man and find the fairy doors throughout the hospital.  (She is hearing impaired and been through many surgeries to correct the lack of eardrums and full canals.)

I tore a page out of an old dictionary to layer behind the pictures to give the photo cluster breathing room from the busy background. The title is cut from my Silhouette with the Bakery font on white card stock, it was to white so I sprayed it with HS gold color shine.
